How it works: you pay for a 30-day period, within which you either get 20 meals, or 12 meals. You can get lunch or dinner through MealPal, depending on what the restaurants around you offer, every day of the week, except weekends. Each meal costs you between $6 and $6.39, instead of the usual price you would pay at a restaurant.

Why? Basically, it’s a win-win situation. The restaurants can plan for large quantities of food, because you order between 5pm the day before, and 10:30 am the day of, and they can therefore sell it for cheaper. You have an advantage because you can go to the restaurant, skip the line, scan a QR code and leave with your meal in a split second, and MealPal probably gets a small commission for coordinating the whole thing. It’s a pretty great idea to coordinate restaurants with regular demand so that everyone gets a better deal.

If you’re too busy to bring your lunch to work, or the food available at your workplace isn’t the best, this app is great because you can take advantage of the food offers around you at a much lower cost!

Reviews on the internet are pretty good, the one thing you have to keep in mind is that you can’t modify your order, so if you’re a picky eater, maybe don’t rely on MealPal too much. A review said that they really enjoyed trying out new restaurants through the app, and they found some of their favorite restaurants through it! It’s pretty cool to be able to discover tasty food around you for just $6.

The meal you’ll get depends on the restaurant: some give good portions, some slightly smaller ones, you have to try it out and see (and give bad reviews to those who don’t give you value for your money). It’s a really cool idea that could help restaurants on one hand, and hard working people’s wallets on the other in order to bring good cheap food back!
